What started as a fortified cliff settlement 1600 years ago soon after became the life of Newquay. Iron ore was once melted here for weapons and tools, they also exported Tin and China clay from here. Up until the 15th century, the town of Newquay had nothing to its name apart from being a ‘small village’ based by the harbor. Newquay’s name all originated when the town was discovered in the 60’s by the Australians and Americans.
